Oakland Privacy Notice

This notice explains what Oakland County Released Inmates collects, how the information is used, and when another provider may receive it. It covers search tools, direct messages, routine technical logs, cookies, advertising, security, and user choices. By continuing to use the site, a visitor accepts these practices.

Information You Submit

Names Entered in Search

A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. This site does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s policy controls its collection and use.

Messages Sent to Us

An email or contact message is retained as needed to read and answer it. We do not share the message outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement compels disclosure.

Routine Technical Records

A page request can create a standard technical log used to operate and understand the site. It may contain:

  • The internet protocol address used for the request
  • The browser name and version
  • The device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring page or site, when available
  • The date and time of each request

Cookies

Cookies help measure how visitors use the pages. A browser can refuse or remove them, although some features may work differently when cookies are blocked.

Reasons for Using Data

Collected information supports ordinary site functions and analysis. It may be used to:

  • Keep pages available and responsive
  • Send a search request to the selected partner tool
  • Measure which Oakland release pages visitors use
  • Detect errors, misuse, and performance faults
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

Privacy Beyond These Pages

Links lead to OCSO and MDOC pages, court and federal portals, release-record sources, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy policy applies. This notice does not control another organization.

Some advertising partners may recognize activity across multiple sites to select targeted ads. That processing occurs on the partner’s systems under its own disclosures and controls.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal data. Limited information may reach these parties when needed for the stated purpose:

  • Search partners that process a query
  • Analytics providers that measure site use
  • Advertising networks that deliver ads
  • Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order

Reasonable Security, Not a Guarantee

Standard safeguards are used to protect information in our control. No internet service, storage system, or transmission is entirely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach or loss will never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If a minor submitted information, contact us and request deletion.

Choices About Personal Data

Subject to applicable law and verification, a visitor may ask us to:

  • Provide a copy of personal data we hold
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete personal data when the law permits
  • Stop certain forms of processing
